imo, a challenge is impossible if a rule has to be tweaked because otherwise a boss wouldnt go down. if sins fin doesnt attack, you cannot counter-attack, thats the end of the challenge. everything afterwards is basically just seeing how far you can go with only counter-attack. except the rule from the get-go is to not count all bosses where this challenge does not apply, but that also means a good chunk of bosses is excluded from the challenge. its the same with other challenges where items have to be scripted into the inventory at the start of the game. it means the challenge is not possible, simply because you dont have these items, summons, materia whatever from the beginning. which is not due to player skills or strategy, but simply due to game mechanics. i still continue watching cuz im interested to see how many bosses can only be defeated with counter-attack, but then its also a question, is using items a counter-attack? would the ability auto-potion or auto-phoenix be allowed since its a characters automatic action which is not a counter-attack? i suppose it is necessary, otherwise the challenge also would be over after basically the first boss. i think you can make it easier for yourself that you basically just exclude all the bosses in such challenges where your set rule cannot apply and kill them off normally offscreen or with a snippet and just list the bosses where the challenge is possible to do. since sin-spawn also cant be killed with counter-attack, i wouldve just killed it normally since its basically excluded from the challenge, so there isnt rly a need for you to make the fight harder for yourself. in that case, i wouldve excluded anima from the list as its not possible, killed it as usual and then continue the challenge afterwards.

This is random but at 27:02 the cutscene shows the magus sisters appearing with their respective glyphs. Now each glyph has a symbol in Yevon Script that represents a certain element. The symbol for Sandy represents fire, the symbol for Cindy represents water, and the symbol for Mindy represents lightning. The colors of each glyph corresponds with each element. What's weird is that in ffx, when you go to the remiem temple, for some reason, Sandy's and Cindy's glyph colors are reversed, when you see them glow on the entrance to the temple. The colors are correct during their summoning sequence however

The furthest I ever grinded this early was to unlock all of Lavitz's Additions and obtaining Dart's "Final Burst". The latter by the time I got to Drake. The only Addition I think I have the hardest time with is Rod Typhoon due to that dang random counter attack I can never read lol.

Well that was anticlimactic. I mean obviously you can't best the game using only counter, a ton of reasons why came up in this video. But I was hoping you'd still go to the end and show off comprehensively what can and cannot be done with counter only

Anima's pain attack actually has 99% chance of killing a character, so if you get really lucky, you could actually survive it a couple of times(this only applies to the version of Pain that Seymour's Anima uses). Alternatively, you could have used an aeon and went with the "attack back after being hit" thing. Obviously this is your challenge and your rules, but it would've been fun to see this done on some later fights in the game.

Man, I love X-2, I just wish it wasn't so fucking cryptic if you want to do 100%. As a child I did like 5 playthroughs but never got 100% because of how damn specific FFX-2 is

Hilariously, Dark Bahamut is a bonus boss that's not only beatable with only counters, this is an easy strategy for beating it.

manually counterattacking does not seem like it's in the spirit of the challenge. it's either it works or it doesn't. if it doesn't then challenge failed. that's my opinion.

i think using attack after taking damage without triggering counter should be considered as fail. And from that point on just to find out what enemies can be dealt with using counter only. If the ability doesn't trigger it's not a counter as a counter doesn't use up your turn. So no you can not beat FFX using only Counter regardless of what happens at the end. Also is it pronounced Ko-Fi or Ko-Fee

Didn't finish the vid at this time, but hitting after Sigh counts as a counter to me. It refused to do anything else and this was to continue the run. I think it should be allowed as long as it keeps the spirit and/or prevents a soft lock.

An action based battle system that’s similar to FF7 Remake trilogy would be great. However I will not be on board for a 10 year 3 game wait for FF9 like I was and am for FF7. Square if they can find a balance of new engrossing combat like FF7 Remake trilogy and open world and get the scale right and get it all to fit into one game, they can make bank remaking their old FF6 8 9 games.

i'm guessing why kimahri's jump dealt full damage to you is defend doesn't work vs overdrives which jump would still be classified as there. i'm certain defend only reduces damage from basic attacks

The best final fantasy videos

Compared to all the other star ocean games, this is the slowest and most annoying farm. 900k fol but you need to keep re-entering the area, and if you get the group of scumbags you won't be getting a preemptive strike, or the toad that barely gives any fol. With how much it costs to craft all the items in the game this is painful

It's really refreshing to see someone actually front up on a challenge video and say no, it's not possible. I can't remember the last time i saw a legit challenge video, most should be titled "Can i beat (game) using only X, except for when i use Y and Z to carry on regardless and make a longer video".
